Madar

Ahmad Zahir  ·  1974

Madar (Mother) is among the most emotionally direct of the early volumes, featuring Zahir's celebrated tribute to maternal devotion alongside a set of Dari ghazals that drew heavily on Bidel and Hafiz. The orchestration leaned toward lush strings rather than the electric textures of earlier releases, giving the record a warmth that made it a perennial favorite at family gatherings across the diaspora. Its title track became one of the most recognizable songs in the entire catalog.
