The Fine Print
Privacy Policy
Overview
ahmadzahir.com ("the site", "we") is a non-commercial cultural archive dedicated to the life and music of Ahmad Zahir (1946–1979). This policy describes what information is collected when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have. Last updated: June 11, 2026.
Information we collect
We do not require accounts, collect names, or ask for personal information anywhere on the site. The site has no login, no comment system, and no newsletter.
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically receives standard server log information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. This is used for operating and securing the site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are read, from which countries, on which devices. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects pseudonymous usage data. We do not use this data to identify individuals. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Embedded content
Song and media pages embed videos from YouTube using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set advertising cookies unless you play the video. When you play an embedded video, YouTube (Google) may collect data as described in Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Advertising
We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use advertising cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com. Third-party vendors’ use of advertising cookies is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Cookies
Cookies on this site come from the third-party services described above (Google Analytics, YouTube on playback, and Google AdSense if ads are shown). The site itself sets no first-party tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site remains fully functional without them.
Data sharing and retention
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer information to outside parties. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider per their policy.
Children’s privacy
The site is a general-audience historical archive and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date. Questions about this policy can be sent via the contact page.
