The Fine Print
Privacy Policy
Overview
ahmadzahir.com ("the site", "we", "us") is an editorial archive and publication dedicated to the life and music of Ahmad Zahir (1946–1979). This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, how it is used, the third parties involved (including advertising and analytics providers), and the choices and rights you have. By using the site you consent to the practices described here.

Information we collect
We do not require accounts, collect names, or ask you to submit personal information anywhere on the site. There is no login, comment system, or newsletter.
Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically receives standard server log data when you visit — your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you request — which is used to operate and secure the site.
Third-party services we embed or load (advertising, analytics, and video, described below) may collect additional information such as cookies and device or usage identifiers, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Advertising
This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits in order to measure and serve personalized advertising. We do not have access to or control over the cookies these third parties use.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting https://www.aboutads.info, and control cookies used across many ad networks via https://optout.networkadvertising.org. More detail on how Google uses data when you use partner sites is available at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Cookies
Cookies on this site are set by the third-party services described in this policy: Google AdSense (advertising), Google Analytics (measurement), and YouTube (only when you play an embedded video). The site itself sets no first-party tracking cookies.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and the site remains fully functional without them. Note that blocking advertising cookies limits personalization but does not remove ads.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are read, from which countries, on which devices. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects pseudonymous usage data; we do not use it to identify individuals. You can opt out across all websites using the browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Embedded video (YouTube)
Song and media pages embed videos from YouTube using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set advertising cookies unless you play a video. When you play an embedded video, YouTube (Google) may collect data as described at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Your privacy rights — EU/EEA/UK (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where processing relies on consent (such as personalized advertising and analytics cookies), you may withdraw that consent at any time.
For visitors from these regions, our advertising partners operate under Google’s EU user consent policy; you will be asked for consent to personalized advertising and cookies where required, and can manage or withdraw that consent using the controls described above. To exercise your data rights, contact us via the contact page.
Your privacy rights — California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA). We do not sell your personal information for money. The use of advertising cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising may be considered "sharing"; you can opt out using the advertising controls listed above (Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info). To exercise your California rights, contact us via the contact page.
Data sharing and retention
We do not sell or rent your information for money. Information is processed by the third-party providers named above (Google for advertising and analytics, YouTube for video, Netlify for hosting) under their respective policies. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics’ standard settings; server logs are retained by our hosting provider per their policy.
Children’s privacy
The site is a general-audience historical archive and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a revised date. Questions, opt-out requests, or data-rights requests can be sent via the contact page.
