شبهاي ظلمانی، ميان طوفان ها آواره قلب من در دشت و بيابانها با صد ارمان ها ابر ها سياه، بر رخ اختران اشک از چشم من روان شد چو بارانها با صد ارمان ها
شور تو در سر من، عشق تو در دل من نقش تو جاودانی شبهاي تار بی تو، ريزم سرشک غم (ریزم ز دیده ای دل) سرشک ارغوانی
شام فراق سر رسيد، صبح اميد تيره شد به دل ستاره های شب، ز يأس و رنج خيره شد آرزو خاک شد، چشم در انتظار، در اميد وصال شرح جان سوز من بلند شد به آسمانها با صد ارمان ها

Dark Nights — one of his most haunting golden-era recordings, the image of oppressive darkness carrying both personal and, in retrospect, political resonance in the Afghanistan of the 1970s.
About This Recording
Dark Nights gives the Vol. 3 cassette its name and its mood: separation, longing that never resolves, the long hours of the heart. Night is the lover's natural element in this poetry. The day is for the world of action and company; the interior life of longing keeps to the dark.
Recorded in 1974, the darkness was still only a lover's darkness. Within a few years the country would fall into coup and revolution, and the diaspora that now carries his music hears these nights against everything that came after. The recording ended up heavier than its own audience could have known.
