About This Recording
Old age has arrived in the season of youth, and the song lets time and desire collide. The singer is caught between the years that belong to wanting and the first hints of age already showing up. Persian poetry takes this seriously: desire is treated as something close to cosmic, and its dimming as a real loss.
The charge comes from the biography. Zahir cut it in the early 1971 sessions, in his mid-twenties. Young men in this tradition have always written about growing old — the wisdom, it was understood, never required the waiting.
