English Translation

I am a heavy burden — leave me and pass Good, bad — this is who I am, leave me and pass

No one knows my pain — let death Strive to calm it — leave me and pass

O candle, weep uselessly for your own death Do not sit at my bedside — leave me and pass

The mirror of the heart is dark with the rust of griefs Colorless and colorful am I — leave me and pass

I am a heavy burden — leave me and pass. The refrain a kind of self-imposed exile from consolation: the speaker refuses each offered comfort, including the candle's weeping, in favor of being acknowledged and left alone.

About This Recording

'I am a heavy burden — leave me and pass / Good, bad — this is who I am, leave me and pass' — the refrain 'leave me and pass' is a studied self-dismissal. It is not quite nihilism and not quite self-pity; it is something more specific: the refusal of rescue. The speaker knows their nature and does not ask for transformation, only to be acknowledged and bypassed.

'No one knows my pain — let death / Strive to calm it — leave me and pass' — death is invited not dramatically but practically, as the only agent capable of addressing what no human can. The tone is dry, almost ironic. 'O candle, weep uselessly for your own death / Do not sit at my bedside — leave me and pass' — in Persian poetry, the candle weeps wax and burns itself out as a metaphor for the lover's grief. Here, the speaker sends the candle away. Even sympathy is refused.

'The mirror of the heart is dark with the rust of griefs / Colorless and colorful am I — leave me and pass' — the heart-as-mirror image comes from Rumi and the Sufi philosophical tradition: a mirror rusted by pollution cannot reflect truth. 'Colorless and colorful' — without fixed identity, shifting between states — is a self-portrait of someone who has stopped trying to be categorized, and does not want to be.
