English Translation

May God separate you from rivals What a fine wish I have made — may God make it so

One day I will give strangers what they deserve When fortune makes you familiar with me

You will not hear news of my state except when The sigh of the burning ones finds a place in your heart

Transliteration

Magar khuda ze raqiban tura joda mekonad Ajab kheyale khoshe karda-am khuda bekonad

Sazaye mardome begana ra daham roze Ke rozegar tura ba man ashena mekonad

Khabar nameshawee az hale ma magar waqte Ke ah sokhtagan dar dil tu jaa bekonad

A song of hopeful prayer — the speaker asking God to separate the beloved from rivals, imagining a day when fortune makes them known to each other and the sigh of the burning heart finds its place.

About This Recording

It opens not with a claim but a wish — 'may God' — which puts the speaker on his knees from the first line. The rivals circling the beloved are a fixture of the ghazal, and the answer to them here is not a fight but a prayer sent upward. Patience, not passivity: the beloved has to be delivered by something larger than either lover or rival, and the singer knows it.
