Imshab ba qesaee dile man gosh mekoni Farda mara cho qesa faramosh mekoni
Dastam namerasad ke dar aghosh geramat Ay mah ba ki dast dar aaghosh mekoni
Dar saghar tu chist ke ba joraye nekhost Hoshyar o mast ra hama madhosh mekoni
May josh mezanad ba dil khom bya bibin Yade agar ze khon seyawash namekoni
Gar khosh mekoni sokhane khosh bogoyamat Behtar ze gawhare ke tu dar gosh mekoni
Jame jahan ze khon dil ashiqan por ast Hormat negahdar agarash nosh mekoni
Saya cho sham shola dar afghandaye bajam Zein dastan ba lab khamosh mekoni
Tonight with the Tale of My Heart — a song that frames itself as a story, the heart's condition given narrative form. The night as the appropriate time for telling what the day cannot contain.
About This Recording
Tonight, the tale of my heart. The song frames itself as a story about to be told, in the dark, where the day's noise can't reach it. 'Qesa' means tale, and it promises an arc — a beginning, a middle, an end, feeling given the time it needs. Telling the heart's story is no small undertaking here; it is the poet's first task, the reason the poem exists at all. Zahir treats it with that seriousness, while keeping the setting warm enough that it stays a song and never a sermon.
