دانم چرا چشمان تو، اشک آتشبار دارد دانم چرا مژگان تو، تير دل شـکـــار دارد
بايد بگويم اين زمان، اسرار دل با دوسـتان که منم بسی ناتوان، تويی شـمع رفيق من
دل اگر از غم بميرد، کام دل از تو نگيرد دل اگر بيچاره گردد، آخر در پايت بميرد
دانم که دلدارت منم، به دل خريدارت منم دانم، نداند هيچ کس عاشق ديدارت منم
کردی سفر، در نيمه شــب آهنگ ساز تو گويد گر ببيند بر چشــم تو، آهـنـگ راز تو گــویـد

About This Recording
Danam Chura Chashman Tu — I Know Why Your Eyes — opens from a position of unusual knowledge: the speaker claims to understand the beloved's weeping. To know why the beloved cries is to have broken through the surface of the beloved's performance into her interior. In most ghazals the speaker is bewildered by the beloved; here the speaker claims insight. The 'fire-filled tears' (ashk-e atesh-bar) make the eyes simultaneously weeping and burning — grief that produces destruction.
'I must say at this moment the heart's secrets to friends / For I am much weakened — you are my candle companion' — the weakening (nakash shodam) is the occasion for disclosure. When one is strong, secrets can be kept; the weakened lover must tell. The 'candle companion' (sham-e mahfil) is the candle that illuminates a gathering — a social object, something shared — which is what the speaker needs when depleted: light from outside.
The final couplet's double claim: 'I know — no one knows — I am the lover who longs to see you.' The 'no one knows' is inserted mid-sentence, as if the speaker is emphasizing the privacy of the knowledge even as they declare it. The longing to see (didar) is the most basic form of love's desire — not possession, not touch, just sight. And the speaker claims to be the one who holds this longing in a way no other does.
