Ba An Hama Qawl O Qarar is structured as an accounting, a listing of what was promised and what was delivered. The Dari words qawl (word, promise) and qarar (agreement, covenant) are distinguished — qawl is what was spoken, qarar is the formal understanding established. Both are invoked because both were broken.
The sharpest line invokes the divine as witness: 'You said God had brought you to me / You went and felt no shame before God.' The beloved had made God a party to the relationship — the arrival was credited to divine will. Departing without keeping the promise is therefore not just faithlessness to the speaker but a kind of impiety, a failure of gratitude to the force that supposedly arranged the meeting.
The final section breaks from lament into threat — a rare move in Zahir's catalog. 'One day I will find you / I will look into your eyes / Your secret before everyone I will tell and expose you.' The exposure promised is social: the secret (raz) that the beloved has been able to maintain — presumably the secret of her faithlessness — will be made public. The speaker does not threaten violence but revelation, which in a society governed by honor and reputation may be more lasting.
