Aye Bekhabar Az Darde Man — O You Unaware of My Pain — opens with a specific indictment: the beloved's unawareness is not ignorance but a choice. 'My dust has risen to the sky' — the destruction of the speaker has been visible and extensive; to not know it is to have chosen not to look. The yellowed color (zanard) of the speaker's face, the classic sign of lovesickness in Persian lyric tradition, would have been apparent to any attentive gaze.

The middle stanzas name the precise nature of the indifference: 'You did not know my love, you engaged with others / You scattered me — lost the heart, lost the heart.'
