گل سبو به دوش آمد
Gul Sabo Ba Dosh Amad
“Morning Dew Came at Dawn”
Lyrics
Lyrics updated · July 2026English Translation
The flower-jug-bearer has come — where are the goblets of the silent ones? The cup of wine is bubbling — where is the clamor of the wine-drinkers?
How can you lean on a grief so heavy, O heart? Ask the jug-bearers: where are the sellers of the wine-jar?
The solitude was mine and my heart's — love joined us too For the gathering of wine-drinkers — where is the bubbling wine?

The flower-jug-bearer has come — where are the goblets of the silent ones? The cup of wine is bubbling but the wine-drinkers are absent. The solitude was mine and my heart's — love joined us too.
About This Recording
'The flower-jug-bearer has come — where are the goblets of the silent ones?' — the gul sabo ba dosh is the one who carries the wine pitcher adorned with flowers to a gathering. Their arrival is usually the signal that the assembly can begin. But the assembly is empty; the 'silent ones' have no goblets ready.
'The cup of wine is bubbling — where is the clamor of the wine-drinkers?' — everything necessary for the gathering is present (the wine, the pitcher, the server) but the participants are absent. The wine bubbles without being drunk. The scene is ready and the event is not happening.
'The solitude was mine and my heart's — love joined us too / For the gathering of wine-drinkers — where is the bubbling wine?' — this couplet is the most unexpected. Before love arrived, there were two things in the solitude: the speaker and the speaker's heart. Love became a third. This trio now constitutes the gathering; the question 'where is the wine?' reverses the opening — now the wine is missing, not the company. The poem turns itself inside out.
