English Translation

The light of my eyes — without you I cannot Even for one night be alone with myself and live Your love upon me carries many torments But union with you — carries many secrets

Do not be angry with me, O calm of my heart Come back tonight quickly — do not make me suffer You are my hope, you are my shelter You are the glory of love — the tales of mine

Without you I cannot for even one night be alone and live — your love carries many torments but union with you carries many secrets; you are my hope, shelter, glory of love.

About This Recording

Eshqe Tu Bar Man — Your Love Upon Me — opens with a statement of existential dependency: without the beloved, even solitude becomes unlivable. 'I cannot / Even for one night be alone with myself and live' — the self without the beloved is insufficient company. The speaker cannot sustain themselves through their own presence; the beloved's absence makes even the self unbearable.

'Your love upon me carries many torments / But union with you — carries many secrets' — the paradox is precise. Love as suffered (dured, borne, carried) is torment; love as union is mystery. The speaker accepts the torment because the secrets of union cannot be accessed any other way. The price of the secret is the suffering.

'You are my hope, you are my shelter / You are the glory of love — the tales of mine' — the final lines stack the beloved's attributes in ascending order: hope (امید, the forward-looking); shelter (پناه, the protective); glory of love (شکوه عشق); and then the speaker's own stories. 'The tales of mine' — the beloved is the narrator's subject, the content of all the speaker's stories. Without the beloved there is nothing to tell.
