'O your gaze — greener than the green meadows of hope' — the comparison is synesthetic: a gaze compared to a color (green), which is then compared to an abstraction (hope). To be greener than the green meadows of hope is to surpass hope in its own quality. The gaze does not merely offer hope; it exceeds whatever green fertile hope can provide.

'The beloved asks after the condition of the far-fallen ones / Where is the forgetfulness through which I could say: my turn of remembrance has come' — the beloved asking after the speaker's condition is a rare event in the ghazal, where the beloved is usually entirely passive or absent. Here she enquires; but the speaker cannot benefit from this, because they lack the forgetfulness that would let them receive her attention as something new. They have been remembering her so long that they cannot register the event of being remembered in return.

'The messenger of longing is safe from the ambush of inadequacy / I have a lament that arrives wherever I send it' — the final image is one of the more unusual in this catalog. A messenger (payyam-bar) of longing (eshtiyaq) that cannot be waylaid — because longing itself is the vehicle, which cannot be ambushed by inadequacy (qosoor). The lament (nala) is also a carrier that finds its destination. In a poem about the difficulty of being heard, the last two lines assert the reliability of grief's transmission.
