آواره بیچاره قلب من
Awara Bechara Qalbe Man
“My Wandering, Helpless Heart”
Lyrics
Lyrics updated · July 2026English Translation
Free me from pain and weakness From eternal burning From autumn's fierce wind From crimson tears Wandering, wretched My heart in a hundred pieces
Free me Free me
Go, faithless one — you did not remember me You brought no joy to me even with a letter In the school of your love I was your student You taught me lessons but did not make me your teacher
O darling, my pain Even if you cut off my head I will not turn from you Even if you cut off my head with the knife of love Circling in blood, I will circle around you

رهان مرا از درد و ناتوانی از سوز جاودانی از تندباد خزانی از اشک ارغوانی آواره، بیچاره قلب من صدپاره
رهان مرا رهان مرا

Free me from eternal burning, from crimson tears — a wandering, wretched heart in a hundred pieces. The song of the student who was taught but never made teacher, who circles in blood but will not turn away.
About This Recording
The appeal to be freed from 'eternal burning' (suzan-e abadi) places Awara Bechara Qalbe Man in the tradition of songs where suffering is not momentary but constitutive — a permanent condition from which release is requested but not necessarily expected.
The middle section introduces a classroom metaphor unusual in the ghazal tradition: 'In the school of your love I was your student / You taught me lessons but did not make me your teacher.' The beloved has educated the speaker in love's curriculum without granting him the authority that mastery should bring. He has learned everything and been given no standing in what he has learned.
The closing lines echo Ay Ishq in their imagery: 'Even if you cut off my head I will not turn from you / Circling in blood, I will circle around you.' The severed head circling is a figure that appears in Persian lyric at moments of absolute devotion — love that the body's destruction cannot end.
